Management
Dr Benedikt Timmerman, Founder, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Directoire.
Dr Benedikt Timmerman holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Ghent, Belgium (1986) and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France (1990-1991). He founded BT Pharma (now Genticel) in October 2001, after a successful career at NOVARTIS (1996 – 2000) and its predecessor company SANDOZ (1991 - 1996). In these companies, Dr Timmerman held various management positions, including Senior Director Research & Development of NOVARTIS Seeds – Europe, member of the European Executive Committee and member of the global Seeds Technology Licensing and Acquisition team. Dr Timmerman was also Board member of Agritrading, Italy (1998-2000) and has been since 2006 a member of the Supervisory Board of PC30, a computer and Internet Service Company, listed on the Euronext exchange, Paris.
Mr Martin Koch, Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Directoire.
Mr Martin Koch holds an engineering degree (INAPG) and an MBA from INSEAD. Before joining BT Pharma (now Genticel) in 2007, Mr Koch had an international career in financial and operational management positions at Eli Lilly Company, Cap Gemini / Ernst & Young, Elan Pharmaceuticals, Zeneus Pharma and Cephalon Pharmaceuticals. In particular, Mr Koch was instrumental in the transaction which resulted in a large part of Elan’s continental European activities being spun out to Zeneus Pharma.
Dr Marie-Christine Bissery, Chief Scientific Officer & Member of the Directoire
Prior to joining BT Pharma (now Genticel) in 2009, Dr Marie-Christine Bissery, PhD, PharmD, worked for 20 years at Sanofi–Aventis (and its predecessor companies Rhone-Poulenc and Aventis) most recently as International Director of the Oncology Therapeutic Department. Over that time, Dr Bissery played a key role in the discovery and development of more than a dozen small molecule and biological anti-cancer agents. Prior to joining industry, Dr Bissery spent 7 years in the United States (1981-1988) working for several academic institutions including the Phase I Oncology Department of Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr Bissery graduated as a Doctor in Pharmacy from the University of Paris, France and completed her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Washington University, USA. She has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
