Thierry Hercend MD, PhD, Chairman of the Board
Thierry Hercend has over 30 years of both academic and pharmaceutical experience in various therapeutic areas including oncology and inflammatory diseases. Since 2006, Dr Thierry Hercend has been Venture Partner at Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners (EdRIP). From 2002 until 2005, Dr Hercend was Vice President in charge of the oncology therapeutic area at Aventis. From 1998 to 2002, he was Vice President of Research, Europe, at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Previously, Dr Hercend was Head of Research and Development for the Laboratory of Plasma Fractionation and Biotechnology (LFB) and was in various executive R & D positions with Roussel-Uclaf. Prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry, Dr Hercend was Head of the Hemato-Immunology unit of the Gustave Roussy Cancer Institute, Villejuif, France, Director of the Inserm unit U333 dedicated to tumour Immunology and a Professor of Immunology at the Medical Faculty of Paris XI University. He has authored more than 120 publications in oncology, auto-immune diseases and transplantation.
Ludovic de Meeus d'Argenteuil, Vice-President of the Board
Mr Ludovic de Meeûs d’Argenteuil, Engineer and INSEAD MBA, is co-founder of BT Pharma (now Genticel). On the Supervisory Board, Mr de Meeûs d’Argenteuil represents the historic shareholders of GENTICEL, amongst which LBP S.A., an investment holding company under Belgian Law. Mr de Meeûs d’Argenteuil is also CEO of two agri-nutraceutical companies and board member of several international holding companies.
Alain Munoz, MD
Dr Alain Munoz has over 30 years of both academic and pharmaceutical experience in various therapeutic areas such as cardiology and anaesthesiology. He was also trained in Management and Finance at CRC, Jouy en Josas and IMD, Lausanne. Dr Munoz started his career at the University hospital of Montpellier in 1976 as resident (AIH), and then Clinical unit chief (CCA) in the Cardiology department. In 1983, he joined Sanofi Research as Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Department, became manager of the Cardiovascular and Anti-thrombotics portfolio in 1985 and Vice President, responsible for international development in 1987. Dr Munoz joined the Fournier Pharmaceuticals Group in 1990 as VP of R&D, became Head of licensing of the Pharma division in 1993 and was appointed senior Vice President of the Pharmaceutical group in 1997. In 2000, Dr Munoz established his own companies Science and Business Development and Amistad Pharma. In addition, he is a board member of several biotech companies such as Vivalis SA and Novagali SA and represents AGF Private Equity at the Board of Genticel.
Raphael Wisniewski
Mr Raphael Wisniewski is investment director at Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners (EdRIP) in the life sciences venture group. He sits on the board of several European life sciences companies on behalf of EdRIP. Prior to joining EdRIP in 2001, Mr Wisniewski spent several years in London working for the hospital group General Healthcare Group and in the corporate finance practices of Salomon Smith Barney and Goldman Sachs.
Olivier Martinez, PhD
Dr Olivier Martinez is Investment manager at Bioam Gestion. From 1992 to 1997, Mr. Martinez pursued his doctoral studies in cell biology in Paris, first at the Pasteur Institute and then at the Curie Institute. After undergoing management training, he joined the Life Science Group at Gemini Consulting and spent two years working exclusively on pharmaceutical and healthcare projects. He joined Bioam in 2000 as an Associate and became Investment manager in 2004. He is a member of the executive board of Bioam Gestion and currently serves on the boards of Cytheris (Issy les moulineaux, France), Fab Pharma (Paris, France) and Adocia (Lyon, France). Mr. Martinez is an alumnus of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, holds a PhD in cell biology from the University of Paris XI and a diploma from the Collège des Ingénieurs.
Béatrice Llirbat, MD, PhD
Dr Llirbat is a partner of Amundi Private Equity Funds Life Science team. Prior to joining SGAM Alternative Investments in 2000 (since January 2010, merged into Amundi Private Equity Funds) Dr Llirbat specialized in clinical biology and worked as a research fellow in neurobiology (CNRS, Paris and in the Max Planck Institute, Munich). Dr Llirbat is in charge of several biotechnology companies invested by Amundi Private Equity Funds and is a supervisory board member of Cytomics Pharmaceuticals, Intrasense and Trophos.
Béatrice holds a MD from the University of Paris V and a PhD in Neurosciences from the University of Paris VI. She also holds a Certified European Financial Analyst diploma.
